Karachi: The Sui Southern Gas Company> (SSGC) has clarified that the strong gas smell reported in several areas of Karachi is not due to a gas leak, but is the result of testing during the commissioning of a new pipeline near Abul Hasan Isphahani Road.
According to the company, its odorization plants are currently being tested, temporarily increasing the amount of odorant added to the gas. As a result, residents in some areas may notice a stronger-than-usual gas smell.
SSGC said all system pressure levels remain normal and no gas leak has been detected. The company has advised residents to remain calm and continue their normal activities, assuring that the odour is temporary and part of the testing process
