Changsha, September 20, 2026: The Government of Sindh and Hunan Province of the People’s Republic of China have taken a significant step towards strengthening institutional, economic and people-to-people ties with the signing of a Letter of Intent (LoI) on cooperation between the two sides.
The Letter of Intent was signed by Sharjeel Inam Memon, Senior Minister for Transport & Mass Transit and Information, Government of Sindh, and Guo Ning, Director-General of the Hunan Foreign Affairs Office (FAO).
The agreement establishes a framework for greater engagement between Sindh and Hunan in areas of mutual interest, including economic cooperation, trade, investment, technology, agriculture, culture and people-to-people exchanges.
The signing ceremony was attended by Qassim Naveed Qamar, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Sindh for Investment and Public-Private Partnership Projects, and Yasir Iqbal Butt, Consul General of Pakistan in Guangzhou, along with senior officials and representatives from both sides.
The development follows the visit of President Asif Ali Zardari to Hunan in April 2026, which provided a foundation for enhanced cooperation between the two provinces.
The Letter of Intent is expected to facilitate closer institutional coordination, promote business-to-business engagement, encourage investment and technology partnerships, and create new opportunities for enterprises and communities in Sindh and Hunan.
Sindh’s diverse economic potential and Hunan’s industrial, technological and agricultural capabilities offer opportunities for practical cooperation and mutually beneficial development. The partnership also seeks to translate the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and China into tangible outcomes through economic growth, investment, innovation, knowledge exchange and stronger people-to-people connectivity.
