Riyadh: Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz met with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defense Forces, Field Marshal Asim Munir, in Riyadh as the three countries moved to strengthen cooperation under the Makkah Joint Defense Agreement.
The meeting followed discussions between senior military officials from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, who reviewed the security situation and threats facing Saudi Arabia. The officials discussed enhanced intelligence cooperation, military coordination and the integration of defense capabilities under the Makkah Joint Defense Agreement.
During his meeting with Field Marshal Asim Munir, Prince Khalid bin Salman said the two sides reviewed the outcomes of the chiefs-of-staff meeting and discussed recent attacks affecting Makkah as well as civilian and economic infrastructure in Saudi Arabia. They also reaffirmed continued joint efforts under the agreement.
The Riyadh discussions come as Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye work to translate the commitments of the Makkah Joint Defense Agreement into practical military cooperation. The three countries have also reaffirmed their commitment to collective defense and to Saudi Arabia’s security, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The meeting was attended by Saudi Chief of General Staff General Fayyadh bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili, Defense Minister’s Adviser for Intelligence Affairs Hisham bin Abdulaziz bin Saif and other Saudi and Pakistani officials.
