Karachi: A special committee of the Sindh Assembly will meet today to discuss issues related to electricity load shedding in the province, with the heads of K-Electric, HESCO and SEPCO summoned to attend the meeting.
The meeting of the Special Committee on Resolution No. 111 of 2024 is scheduled for 11:30 AM today, September 23, 2026, in Committee Room No. 1 of the Old Sindh Assembly Building in Karachi.
The meeting will be chaired by Fayaz Ali Butt, who heads the special committee. Sindh Assembly Leader of the Opposition Ali Khurshidi is among the committee members, while Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar, Sindh Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Criminal Prosecution and Home, is also listed as an ex-officio member.
The CEOs of K-Electric, HESCO and SEPCO have been specifically directed to attend the meeting in person. Representatives from the Sindh Energy Department, Law Department and other members of the special committee are also scheduled to participate.
The committee is set to examine Resolution No. 111 of 2024, which relates to issues involving K-Electric, HESCO and SEPCO. Earlier in May, the Sindh Assembly had referred a motion concerning alleged unannounced electricity load shedding in Karachi’s PS-112 Baldia Town to the same special committee.
The meeting follows a ruling by the Speaker of the Sindh Assembly for proceedings concerning the resolution on electricity load shedding and related power supply issues.
