ISTANBUL: Turkish defence company Baykar has unveiled its new K2 Kamikaze Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), presenting the platform as a long-range autonomous system designed for strategic missions and swarm operations.
According to Baykar, the K2 has a maximum take-off weight of 800 kilograms and can carry a 200-kilogram warhead. The company says the UAV has a range exceeding 2,000 kilometres, a speed of more than 200 km/h and an endurance of over 13 hours.
The platform has also demonstrated AI-powered swarm autonomy, with five K2 aircraft successfully conducting formation flight tests in different configurations. Baykar says the system uses advanced artificial intelligence and autonomy algorithms for coordinated operations.
The K2 is designed with short-runway take-off and landing capability and is intended to support long-range missions. Its reported capabilities also include AI-based navigation and targeting, along with LOS and BLOS communications
