Karachi: Pakistan Customs officials at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi, foiled two separate attempts to allegedly smuggle high-value mobile phones and recovered a total of 18 iPhone 18 Pro Max devices, according to customs authorities.
In the first operation on September 20, customs officials intercepted a passenger arriving from Dubai. During baggage scanning, empty iPhone boxes were reportedly found inside biscuit packets. A subsequent physical search led to the recovery of five iPhone 18 Pro Max devices from the passenger.
In the second operation on September 21, customs officials stopped a passenger arriving from Dubai on Emirates flight EK-600. Empty iPhone boxes were reportedly detected during baggage scanning, following which the passenger was subjected to a physical search. Customs officials recovered 13 iPhone 18 Pro Max devices.
According to customs authorities, the 18 recovered mobile phones have an estimated combined value of approximately Rs7.5 million. The devices were seized under the relevant provisions of the Customs Act, 1969.
Further legal proceedings in both cases are underway, customs officials said.
