GTA 6 “Extended Look” On PS5: Graphics, Gameplay And DualSense Explained

Published:

Rockstar Games has finally given fans an extended look at Grand Theft Auto VI, with the 26-minute showcase captured entirely on a standard PlayStation 5. The footage provides the clearest picture yet of GTA 6’s graphics, gameplay mechanics, character interactions and the way the game is designed around PS5 hardware.

PS5 Graphics Set A New Benchmark

The Extended Look highlights a major visual leap over GTA V. Vice City and the wider Leonida region feature denser crowds, highly detailed interiors, more realistic character faces, improved animations and much more convincing lighting.

Characters show fine facial details such as wrinkles and freckles, while clothing, hair and environmental objects react more naturally to movement and lighting. The footage was captured on the base PS5, making the level of visual detail particularly notable.

Gameplay Looks More Interactive

GTA 6 appears to significantly expand how players interact with the world. Jason and Lucia can be switched between quickly, while missions can seamlessly move between cinematic sequences and active gameplay.

The showcase also demonstrated improved gunplay, more responsive driving, environmental destruction during police chases and a new six-star wanted system. Players will also have access to activities including racing, scuba diving, kayaking, basketball and parachuting.

DualSense Features Add More Immersion

Sony has confirmed that GTA 6 takes advantage of the PS5 DualSense controller. Haptic feedback can respond to actions and environmental effects, while adaptive triggers provide dynamic resistance. The controller’s built-in speaker will also contribute sounds during certain interactions.

PS5’s SSD is designed to support fast transitions and near-instant loading across the expansive world of Leonida.

What The Extended Look Means For GTA 6

The showcase suggests that Rockstar is prioritizing world detail, immersion and realism alongside the traditional GTA formula of driving, shooting, exploration and crime. The combination of a highly detailed open world, reactive characters and PS5-specific features could make GTA 6 one of the most technically ambitious console games yet.

Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
