Karachi: Jinnah Hospital Karachi has reported a suspected rabies case involving a 27-year-old woman from Tando Allah Yar, who was bitten by a stray dog on her right ankle around six months ago.
According to doctors, the woman received three anti-rabies injections following the dog bite. However, she has now developed symptoms including hydrophobia, or fear of water, and excessive salivation.
The neurology team examined the patient and expressed suspicion of rabies based on her clinical condition. She has subsequently been admitted to the FGO Ward at Jinnah Hospital for further medical care and observation.
Doctors have urged people to take dog bites seriously and seek immediate medical attention and appropriate post-exposure treatment.
This is reportedly the ninth rabies case reported at Jinnah Hospital Karachi.
