WARSAW: Around 30 humanoid and quadruped robots took part in an unusual demonstration outside Poland’s Ministry of Digital Affairs, calling for stronger regulation of artificial intelligence and greater protection for human jobs.
The demonstration was organised by the Democratism initiative to highlight concerns over the impact of AI and robotisation on the labour market. The robots marched in circles, waved flags and broadcast slogans including “Defend workplaces,” “Time for rules” and “Don’t wait, regulate.”
Organisers said the protest was aimed at drawing attention to the possibility of robots and AI replacing workers in both physical and cognitive jobs. They called for regulations that could protect workers as automation expands.
Poland’s Digital Affairs Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski also visited the demonstration and spoke with the organisers, highlighting concerns over uncontrolled AI systems being integrated into increasingly capable humanoid robots.
