Lahore: Renowned Islamic scholar and senior figure associated with the Tablighi Jamaat, Maulana Muhammad Ehsanul Haq, has passed away at the age of 84, according to reports. He was a prominent teacher of Hadith and served as Sheikh-ul-Hadith at Madrasa Arabia Raiwind.
Maulana Ehsanul Haq was regarded as one of the respected elders and scholars associated with the Tablighi movement. He remained connected with the Raiwind Tablighi Markaz for a long period and dedicated his life to the teaching and propagation of Islam.
Reports state that he was an authorised spiritual successor (Khalifa-e-Majaz) of the renowned Hadith scholar Maulana Muhammad Zakariya Kandhlawi (RA). He also contributed to Islamic literature and was associated with the translation of religious works.
Throughout his life, Maulana Ehsanul Haq remained involved in Quran and Hadith education, religious preaching, moral reform and guidance. His death has been mourned by scholars, religious circles and people associated with the Tablighi Jamaat.
His funeral prayer was scheduled to be offered after Zuhr prayers at the Raiwind Tablighi Markaz on Thursday, September 3, 2026.
Religious leaders have expressed grief over his passing, describing his death as a major loss for Pakistan’s religious and scholarly circles and paying tribute to his lifelong services to Islamic education and preaching.
