ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has unveiled a new long-range loitering munition, marking a significant development in the country’s indigenous unmanned aerial capabilities.
The newly showcased D-248 kamikaze drone reportedly has an operational range of between 2,200 and 3,000 kilometres, giving it the ability to operate across vast distances. The system was displayed at the Indus Robotics and Autonomous Systems Expo 2026, highlighting Pakistan’s continued focus on developing advanced indigenous defence technologies.
According to reported specifications, the drone can remain airborne for approximately 12 to 14 hours and is capable of carrying a payload of around 30 to 50 kilograms.
The development reflects Pakistan’s growing investment in unmanned systems, autonomous technologies and long-range defence capabilities. Loitering munitions have become an increasingly important part of modern warfare because they combine surveillance capabilities with precision-strike potential.
The unveiling of the D-248 is expected to attract significant attention from defence analysts as Pakistan continues expanding its domestic defence technology and unmanned aerial systems sector.
