TAXILA: In a major boost to Pakistan’s indigenous defence industry, Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT) has officially unveiled the LIGER Armoured Security Vehicle (ASV)—a next-generation protected mobility platform designed to meet the evolving demands of modern military and internal security operations.
The unveiling of the LIGER marks another milestone in Pakistan’s efforts to strengthen self-reliance in defence production while reducing dependence on foreign military equipment. Engineered to operate in high-threat environments, the vehicle combines advanced protection, superior mobility, and modern combat capabilities in a single platform.
Designed for the Modern Battlefield
Weighing approximately 25 tonnes, the LIGER is purpose-built for missions involving troop transport, counterterrorism, border security, convoy protection, and rapid tactical deployment. It is capable of carrying up to 11 fully equipped personnel, allowing security forces to move safely through hostile environments while maintaining combat readiness.
One of the vehicle’s standout features is its Remote Controlled Weapon Station (RCWS), enabling operators to engage threats without exposing themselves to enemy fire. This significantly enhances crew survivability during combat and urban security operations.
Powerful Engine and Outstanding Mobility
The LIGER is powered by a 275–350 horsepower diesel engine coupled with a 6-speed automatic transmission, delivering both reliability and performance across diverse terrain.

- Gradient Climbing Ability: 60%
- Side Slope Capability: 30%
- Pivot-to-Infinite Turning: Enhanced maneuverability in confined spaces
These features allow the vehicle to perform effectively in deserts, mountainous regions, urban streets, and rugged off-road environments.
Advanced Protection for High-Threat Missions
Protection remains one of the LIGER’s strongest attributes. The vehicle incorporates B6-level ballistic protection, offering resistance against high-powered small arms fire and battlefield threats. Its reinforced armoured structure is designed to improve crew survivability during tactical operations.
Combined with its weapon station and high mobility, the LIGER provides security forces with a balanced platform capable of responding to a wide range of operational scenarios.
