ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that more than 90,000 Pakistanis have lost their lives in the country’s long struggle against terrorism, paying tribute to the sacrifices of civilians, security personnel, and law enforcement agencies.
Addressing a gathering in Islamabad, the prime minister said Pakistan has paid an immense human and economic cost in its efforts to restore peace and stability. He described the nation’s fight against terrorism as one of the most significant security challenges in its history.
Referring to regional security concerns, Shehbaz Sharif alleged that India has been supporting militant elements by providing resources and backing to groups involved in attacks inside Pakistan. He said the country possesses evidence of external support for terrorism and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to exposing such activities through diplomatic and international channels.
The prime minister reaffirmed that Pakistan’s security forces and intelligence agencies continue to carry out operations against militant groups and remain determined to eliminate terrorism from the country. He stressed that lasting peace and economic progress depend on defeating extremist violence and ensuring national stability.
Shehbaz Sharif also praised the resilience of the Pakistani people, saying the sacrifices made by the nation would not be forgotten. He pledged that the government would continue supporting the families of those who lost their lives while strengthening efforts to safeguard the country’s security
