SEOUL: Samsung Electronics has introduced its latest lineup of foldable smartphones, unveiling the Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip8 with upgraded designs, advanced AI capabilities, and higher price tags as component costs continue to rise.
The new Galaxy Z Fold8 starts at $1,899, while the premium Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is priced at $2,099. The Galaxy Z Flip8 begins at $1,199, around $100 more than the previous generation. Samsung says the new devices feature slimmer designs, improved displays, Qualcomm’s latest processors, and AI-powered features driven by Google’s Gemini platform.
Samsung is betting that demand for premium foldable devices will remain strong despite a slowdown in the broader smartphone market. Industry analysts expect foldable smartphone shipments to continue growing, although rising memory chip costs and increasing competition from Chinese manufacturers and Apple’s anticipated foldable device could pressure Samsung’s mobile business.
The company also refreshed its wearable lineup with new Galaxy Watch models, reinforcing its strategy to expand its AI-powered ecosystem across smartphones and connected devices.
