Federal Government Extends Austerity Measures to Rein in Public Spending

Published:

Islamabad: The federal government has decided to continue austerity measures during the current fiscal year as part of its strategy to curb public spending, strengthen fiscal discipline, and improve economic stability.

According to official sources, the decision aims to reduce non-essential government expenditures while ensuring efficient use of public resources. Ministries and government departments have been directed to strictly implement cost-cutting measures, including restrictions on unnecessary purchases, official travel, and other discretionary expenses.

The move is part of the government’s broader economic reform agenda aimed at improving fiscal management, reducing the budget deficit, and maintaining macroeconomic stability. Officials said the continuation of austerity measures reflects the government’s commitment to responsible financial governance amid ongoing economic challenges.

Authorities emphasized that essential public services and development priorities will continue, while efforts to minimize wasteful spending across government institutions will remain in place.
