ISLAMABAD: Former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry has claimed that petrol and diesel prices have increased significantly since February, with petrol rising by Rs106 per litre and diesel by Rs107 per litre.
In a post on social media, Chaudhry said diesel was priced at Rs286 per litre and petrol at Rs258 per litre in February. He claimed that following the latest increases, diesel had reached Rs393 per litre while petrol stood at Rs364 per litre.
Chaudhry criticized the government over the rising fuel prices, saying the increases were putting additional pressure on the economy and making it difficult to increase production. He also questioned whether the government had a solution to the situation.
The latest increase announced by the Petroleum Division raised the petrol price by Rs3.40 per litre and diesel by Rs6.72 per litre. The notified prices were set at Rs367.75 for petrol and Rs392.67 for high-speed diesel.
Fuel prices have remained highly volatile in 2026 amid fluctuations in international oil markets and changes in domestic pricing.
Chaudhry’s figures refer to the increase between February and the prices he cited in his statement.
