KARACHI,: The Sindh government has launched a new People’s Bus Service route connecting Larkana, Qambar and Shahdadkot, expanding public transport services to more cities across the province.
The new route has been initiated on the instructions of Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, according to the provincial government’s announcement.
New Route To Facilitate Residents
The newly launched service is expected to provide residents of Larkana, Qambar and Shahdadkot with an additional public transport option for travelling between the three areas.
Sharjeel Inam Memon said the scope of the People’s Bus Service was being expanded to different cities of Sindh to improve access to public transportation.
The Sindh government’s stated objective is to provide modern public transport facilities to residents across the province, while keeping services accessible and affordable.
More People’s Bus Service Routes Planned
The senior minister said additional People’s Bus Service routes were also being introduced in different districts of Sindh as part of the provincial government’s efforts to expand the public transport network.
The Sindh Mass Transit Authority (SMTA) describes the People’s Bus Service as a project aimed at improving public transportation within Sindh and facilitating travel within Karachi and between districts.
The service was originally planned as an intra-district public transport project covering major cities of Sindh, including Larkana.
Focus On Public Transport Expansion
According to Sharjeel Inam Memon, providing better and affordable transportation facilities to citizens remains a priority for the Sindh government.
The expansion of the People’s Bus Service is part of broader public transport initiatives in the province, alongside projects involving electric buses, EV taxis, double-decker buses and Bus Rapid Transit systems.
