KARACHI: MQM-P Deputy Parliamentary Leader in the Sindh Assembly, Taha Ahmed Khan, has called on Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah to order an immediate investigation into alleged administrative, financial and tendering irregularities in development schemes being executed by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC).
Khan raised concerns over alleged irregularities in 188 provincial Annual Development Programme (ADP) schemes valued at Rs7.5 billion. He also called for greater transparency in the tendering process for around 65 KMC development schemes worth an estimated Rs15–16 billion planned for the 2026–27 financial year.
The MQM-P leader further demanded an impartial inquiry into alleged interference in contract approvals and claims of preferential treatment being given to specific contractors.
Khan urged the chief minister to personally intervene to ensure merit and transparency in KMC development projects and to safeguard public funds. He said transparent procedures were essential for ensuring that development schemes deliver their intended benefits to Karachi’s residents.
