ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has summoned India’s Chargé d’Affaires to lodge a strong protest over the deaths of two Pakistani civilians in the Bedian Sector along the International Border on October 2, 2026.
According to Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the civilians were killed by personnel of India’s Border Security Force (BSF). Pakistan said the men were unarmed and described the use of force as “unprovoked,” “wholly unjustified” and “grossly disproportionate.” Islamabad also rejected any attempt to characterize the deceased as infiltrators.
Pakistan Demands Investigation
The Foreign Office called on India to conduct an immediate, transparent and credible investigation into the incident and take appropriate legal and disciplinary action against those found responsible.
Pakistan also asked India to formally share the findings and action taken with the Government of Pakistan.
Islamabad Calls For Restraint
Pakistan said the incident raised concerns regarding the protection of civilian life and fundamental human rights under international law. Islamabad urged India to respect international law, bilateral border arrangements and established procedures, while exercising maximum restraint to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The incident was reported a day earlier by Pakistani state media, which said two civilians were killed and another injured in the firing near the Kasur border. Indian media reports presented a different account, describing the individuals as people attempting to cross into India.
