Karachi: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is scheduled to inaugurate a new sports complex in Karachi’s Baldia Town on October 9, 2026, according to Sindh government spokesperson Saadia Javed.
Saadia Javed highlighted sports development projects launched during different PPP governments, saying they have contributed to expanding sports facilities across Karachi.
Construction of the KMC Sports Complex on Kashmir Road began in 1974, and the KMC swimming pool was inaugurated by then Chief Minister Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi on June 23, 1975. Other projects included the Gulshan-e-Iqbal Women’s Sports Complex, completed in 2005, and the Landhi Sports Complex, developed in 2018 and 2019.
She also mentioned the sports complex development plan prepared in 1996 and the foundation stone laid for the Star Ground Sports Complex in April 2022. Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab inaugurated a restored sports facility in Landhi on August 9, 2026.
Saadia Javed said providing sports facilities to young people is an important public responsibility and can help them develop their talents and participate in positive activities.
