KARACHI, September 30, 2026: A modern Stone Refining Training School will be established in Karachi Marble City with the cooperation and support of Italy, Special Assistant to Sindh Chief Minister (SACM) for Investment and Public Private Partnership Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar has said.

According to Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar, the proposed training school will be equipped with modern machinery and will have Italian teachers and technical staff to provide specialized training in stone processing and refining.

The estimated cost of establishing the Stone Refining Training School is around $20 million.

Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar said an Italian delegation is scheduled to visit Karachi on November 21, 2026, to finalize details related to the proposed project. Following the delegation’s visit, work on the project is expected to move forward.

He said the initiative was discussed during his recent visit to Italy, where he held meetings with Italian industrialists and organizations associated with the marble industry to explore cooperation for establishing a modern Italian-style training school in Karachi Marble City.

Qamar said Italy has internationally recognized expertise and machinery in the stone industry, particularly in marble processing and refining. He added that discussions were held with Confindustria Marmomacchine, an Italian industrial association representing the marble and stone sector, regarding the proposed training school.

According to the SACM, the Italian side gave an encouraging response to the proposal. He said the planned institution would help develop technical skills among local workers and provide training in the use of modern stone-processing machinery.

Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar said the establishment of the Stone Refining Training School could also create opportunities to increase the value of locally available raw stone through modern processing and refining. The initiative is expected to support skilled employment and contribute to the development of the marble and stone-processing sector.
