ISLAMABAD: A fleet of 21 new rescue and firefighting vehicles for Islamabad Rescue 1122 and the Fire Brigade has arrived at Karachi Port from China, according to officials.
The arrival marks a major addition to Islamabad’s emergency-response fleet, with the new vehicles expected to strengthen the capital’s ability to respond to fires, rescue operations and other emergencies.
Mohsin Naqvi Inspects New Emergency Vehicles
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited Karachi Port and inspected the newly arrived vehicles.
During the visit, the minister welcomed the arrival of the emergency fleet and thanked the Chinese government for expediting the delivery of the vehicles.
According to officials, the new equipment is expected to enhance the operational capacity of Islamabad’s emergency services and improve response capabilities during major incidents.
Fleet Includes Specialized Firefighting Vehicles
Officials said the 21-vehicle fleet includes four fire aerial trucks, six fire towers and five fire tenders, along with other specialized rescue vehicles.
The vehicles are equipped with modern firefighting and emergency-response equipment designed to support rescue teams during fire incidents and other emergencies.
Some of the newly arrived vehicles can reportedly operate at heights of up to 256 feet, providing emergency crews with additional capabilities when dealing with fires or rescue situations involving high-rise buildings.
Vehicles To Be Deployed Across Islamabad
According to officials, the upgraded fleet will be deployed across six emergency stations in Islamabad.
The vehicles are expected to remain available around the clock, allowing emergency teams to respond to incidents across the capital.
The fleet is scheduled to be transported from Karachi to Islamabad within approximately five days, officials said.
Focus On Emergency Response Capacity
The addition of specialized rescue and firefighting vehicles is expected to expand the operational resources available to Islamabad’s emergency services.
Modern aerial firefighting equipment can be particularly useful in incidents involving high-rise buildings, while specialized rescue vehicles can support emergency teams during complex operations.
The new fleet will become part of Islamabad’s emergency-response infrastructure once the vehicles reach the capital and are deployed at designated stations.
