Rawalpindi: Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir met Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan Al-Shaibani at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi on Friday, with both sides discussing regional security and ways to strengthen bilateral defence and security cooperation.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the meeting covered matters of mutual interest, the regional security environment and opportunities for enhanced cooperation between Pakistan and Syria.
Field Marshal Munir highlighted Pakistan’s longstanding fraternal ties with Syria and shared Islamabad’s perspective on global peace and regional stability. He stressed the importance of cooperation and joint efforts to address common security challenges.
The Syrian foreign minister appreciated the professional role of Pakistan’s armed forces in promoting regional peace and stability.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and expanding engagement in the fields of defence and security.
Al-Shaibani is visiting Pakistan on an official trip at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
