The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has auctioned a 527-kanal and 10-marla property owned by Bahria Town in Murree as part of its efforts to recover Rs26 billion in outstanding tax liabilities. The move marks a significant step in the tax authority’s enforcement campaign against unpaid dues.
According to available information, the property is located in Mauza Kathar Sharqi on Angori Road, Murree. The auction was conducted under the provisions of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001, after an earlier auction process failed to attract a successful bid.
Sources said a Pakistani businessman emerged as the highest bidder, with the total acquisition cost, including taxes and other charges, estimated at around Rs825 million. The FBR retained the authority to accept or reject the bid in accordance with the auction terms.
The auction is linked to the recovery of tax liabilities reportedly relating to the 2020 and 2022 tax years. The action follows months of legal and administrative proceedings aimed at recovering government dues from Bahria Town.
The latest development comes amid broader accountability and tax enforcement efforts involving Bahria Town and its founder, Malik Riaz, as authorities continue pursuing outstanding financial claims through legal channels.
