Dust Storm Sweeps Karachi as Rain Brings Relief to Parts of the City

Published:

KARACHI: A powerful dust storm followed by rainfall swept across Karachi on Saturday, bringing much-needed relief from the intense heat but also disrupting daily life in several parts of the city.

Strong winds carrying dust reduced visibility on major roads before rain began falling in areas including Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, North Nazimabad, Saddar, Clifton, DHA, Korangi, Malir, and other neighborhoods. The sudden change in weather caused traffic slowdowns, while some areas reported brief power outages due to strong gusts.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) had forecast rain and thunderstorms for Karachi under the influence of the ongoing monsoon system. Officials advised residents to remain cautious, avoid unnecessary travel during severe weather, and stay away from electric poles, billboards, and weak structures due to the risk posed by strong winds.

While the rainfall provided temporary relief from high temperatures and humidity, authorities warned that intermittent showers and gusty winds could continue in parts of the city over the coming hours.
