Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal has said he is ready to face accountability following the tragic fire at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad.
The incident, which claimed the lives of newborns, has raised serious concerns over hospital safety, emergency preparedness and the protection of patients, particularly infants receiving critical care.
Speaking after the tragedy, Mustafa Kamal maintained that he would accept responsibility and accountability for his role as health minister. The government has also ordered an investigation to determine the cause of the fire and identify any negligence or safety failures.
The tragedy has intensified calls for stronger safety standards and better emergency systems across public hospitals.
