Pakistan has been ranked 12th among the world’s strongest militaries in the Global Firepower 2025 Military Strength Ranking, placing the country among the top 15 military powers globally.
The Global Firepower ranking assesses countries using a wide range of factors, including military manpower, airpower, land forces, naval capabilities, financial resources, logistics, natural resources and geographic considerations.
Pakistan’s position reflects the country’s substantial defence capabilities, including a large active military force, significant aircraft inventory, armoured formations and naval assets. Global Firepower’s data also highlights Pakistan’s sizeable manpower pool and its strong standing in several individual military categories.
Pakistan’s 12th-place ranking in the 2025 assessment places it ahead of several other major military powers and underlines its continued importance in the regional and global security landscape.
It is important to note that Global Firepower’s 2026 ranking has since placed Pakistan at 14th out of 145 countries, with a Power Index score of 0.2626. Therefore, the “12th strongest military” figure specifically refers to the 2025 Global Firepower ranking.
