Karachi: Madhubala, the elephant at Karachi Safari Park, is showing signs of improvement, according to Sindh government spokesperson and MPA Sumeta Afzal Syed.
Madhubala has completed a one-year anti-TB treatment under the supervision of Sri Lankan veterinary specialists. Officials said the prolonged treatment affected her immunity, which subsequently impacted her overall health. However, her condition is now improving.
24-Hour Veterinary Care
A local veterinary team is providing round-the-clock care to Madhubala. She is now able to stand independently without support, which officials described as an encouraging development.
Her key clinical indicators are currently stable. She has a good appetite and her behaviour is reported to be normal.
Daily Medical Monitoring
The Sindh Institute of Animal Health is conducting daily medical examinations. Blood tests and X-rays of Madhubala’s hindquarters are also being carried out regularly to closely monitor her condition.
The veterinary team remains with her at all times and is monitoring her food intake, mobility and overall health.
Consultation With Sri Lankan Experts
Continuous consultation is being maintained with Sri Lankan veterinary specialists Dr Rajapaksa and Dr Buddhika, who have been involved in Madhubala’s treatment and medical guidance.
According to Sumita Afzal Syed, all possible measures are being taken to support Madhubala’s complete recovery. The Sindh government has expressed satisfaction with the improvement in her health while emphasizing that her medical supervision and specialized care will continue.
