KARACHI: Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) have killed a highly wanted militant in a joint intelligence-based operation in Karachi’s Gulbai Sher Shah area, according to the Rangers.
The slain suspect was identified as Qari Zia-ur-Rehman, alias Qari Saifullah, a native of Bajaur. Rangers said weapons and explosives were recovered from his possession.
According to the Rangers, the militant was wanted in connection with multiple attacks on Pakistan Army and Frontier Corps (FC) camps, as well as other terrorist activities. He had allegedly received militant training in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
The security agency said the suspect had recently arrived in Karachi from Afghanistan and was allegedly attempting to establish a network to carry out attacks on sensitive locations in the city. The operation was launched after intelligence indicated his presence in the area.
