Karachi: Chinese J-16 fighter jets have reportedly landed at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport during a transit stop while travelling to Egypt for the Eagles of Civilization 2026 air exercise.
Reports and footage circulating online show J-16 aircraft at Karachi airport. The aircraft are reportedly part of a People’s Liberation Army Air Force contingent heading towards Egypt.
The deployment reportedly includes several J-16 multirole fighters, while a Chinese KJ-500 airborne early-warning and control aircraft has also been reported in connection with the movement.
The J-16 is a twin-engine, two-seat multirole fighter operated by the Chinese Air Force. It is designed for air-to-air and air-to-ground missions.
The Chinese contingent is reportedly travelling to Egypt to participate in Eagles of Civilization 2026, a bilateral air exercise focused on air combat training and related operational activities.
The Karachi stopover highlights Pakistan’s role as a transit point for the Chinese aircraft during their long-distance deployment towards Egypt.
