QUETTA: Security forces killed five militants and injured several others during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Balochistan’s Panjgur district, security sources said on Thursday.
According to the sources, the operation was conducted in the Kali Suran area under Operation Radd-ul-Fitna 3 after intelligence indicated the movement of militants allegedly preparing to carry out a major attack.
The sources said the militants were travelling on motorcycles when security forces targeted them.
Weapons and explosives recovered
A significant quantity of weapons and ammunition was reportedly recovered following the operation.
Security sources also said that three vehicles, two motorcycles and an improvised explosive device (IED) were recovered from the militants.
According to security sources, the militants were affiliated with Fitna al-Hindustan, a designation used by Pakistani authorities. The allegation of Indian backing is attributed to Pakistani security sources and has not been independently verified.
Operation conducted on intelligence
The operation was launched after security agencies received information about the movement of militants in the area, according to officials.
Security forces have continued intelligence-based operations across Balochistan as part of efforts to disrupt militant networks and prevent planned attacks.
The latest operation comes amid continuing security concerns in the province, where authorities have reported several such operations in recent weeks.
