Peshawar High Court Halts Deportation of Afghan Cancer Patient for 30 Days

Published:

The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has temporarily stopped the deportation of an Afghan national undergoing cancer treatment in Pakistan, granting a 30-day stay to allow the patient to continue receiving medical care.

The court issued the order after hearing a petition highlighting the patient’s serious health condition and the potential risks of interrupting ongoing treatment. The petitioner argued that immediate deportation could have life-threatening consequences.

During the hearing, the PHC directed the relevant authorities not to deport the patient for the next 30 days. The court also instructed officials to address the legal and humanitarian aspects of the case during this period.

The decision underscores the importance of balancing immigration enforcement with humanitarian considerations, particularly in cases involving critical medical treatment. Further proceedings are expected after the 30-day period
