Pakistan Airports Authority has announced plans to launch an electric cart service at major airports to improve passenger convenience and mobility.
In the first phase, the service will be introduced at airports in Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, and Multan. A tender has already been issued to procure the carts.
The service will allow passengers to travel easily between parking areas and terminal buildings. According to PAA Director Commercial Rabia Salmi, users will be able to book the carts through a mobile app, making travel smoother—especially for elderly passengers.
The initiative follows a high-level meeting chaired by Mohsin Naqvi, focused on improving airport operations. Officials also approved advanced screening systems, e-gates, and a single-point checking mechanism to reduce delays and long queues.
Authorities say these steps aim to enhance efficiency, reduce congestion, and significantly improve the overall airport experience.
