Iran has proposed a new plan to reopen the కీల Strait of Hormuz and move toward ending the ongoing conflict, while delaying nuclear negotiations for a later stage, according to a report by Axios.
The proposal was reportedly conveyed through Pakistani mediators, as diplomatic efforts continue to find a breakthrough. However, hopes for immediate progress took a hit when Donald Trump cancelled a planned visit to Islamabad by his envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
Meanwhile, Abbas Araqchi has been actively engaging in shuttle diplomacy, travelling between Pakistan and Oman before heading to Russia. Despite these efforts, both sides remain divided on key issues, particularly Iran’s nuclear programme and access to the vital shipping route.
Trump, speaking to Fox News, said Iran is free to initiate talks if it wants to end the two-month-long war, adding that communication channels remain open.
