KARACHI: Karachi shivered through the coldest night of the ongoing winter season as temperatures dropped sharply across the city late Thursday night and early Friday, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
The Met Office reported that the lowest temperature was recorded at Jinnah International Airport, where the mercury fell to 7.1 degrees Celsius, marking the season’s coldest reading so far.
Other areas of the city also experienced chilly conditions. Gulistan-e-Johar recorded a minimum temperature of 9.8°C, Bin Qasim saw 10.1°C, Mauripur registered 11°C, while temperatures in Sharea Faisal hovered around similar levels. The city’s average minimum temperature was recorded at 9.3°C.
The PMD stated that dry weather is expected to prevail over the next 24 hours, with cold conditions likely to persist during nighttime and early morning hours.
According to the forecast, the minimum temperature is expected to range between 10 and 12 degrees Celsius, while daytime temperatures are likely to remain between 24 and 26 degrees Celsius.
