New York: Pakistan’s Counsellor at the United Nations, Saima Saleem, responded to remarks by India’s representative during the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, presenting Pakistan’s position on terrorism, Jammu and Kashmir, minority rights and the Indus Waters Treaty.
During her right-of-reply statement, Saleem rejected the allegations made against Pakistan and raised concerns regarding India’s policies and actions, including Pakistan’s longstanding position on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute. She also referred to the Indus Waters Treaty and Pakistan’s position that the agreement remains legally binding.
The exchange formed part of the continuing diplomatic differences between Pakistan and India at the United Nations, with representatives of both countries presenting opposing positions on terrorism, Kashmir and other bilateral issues.
