KARACHI, September 17, 2026: Karachi Port has recorded its highest-ever Port Liner Shipping Connectivity Index (PLSCI) score of 343 in the second quarter of 2026, reflecting stronger connectivity with the global liner shipping network. The figure was reported by Karachi Port Trust.
The PLSCI measures a port’s integration into global liner shipping networks. According to UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the index considers factors including scheduled ship calls, container shipping capacity, liner services, shipping companies, vessel size and the number of ports directly connected through liner services.
According to Karachi Port Trust, the 343 score is based on connectivity data covering around 900 ports worldwide and represents the port’s strongest connectivity level to date.
Pakistan has also recorded an improvement in its overall Liner Shipping Connectivity Index (LSCI) ranking, moving from 35th to 34th position, according to the Karachi Port Trust update. The country-level LSCI measures how well an economy is connected to global container shipping networks.
The improvement in maritime connectivity could support Pakistan’s access to international supply chains and strengthen Karachi Port’s role in facilitating maritime trade. Karachi Port Trust is also pursuing measures focused on port modernization, operational efficiency and improved maritime infrastructure.
