KARACHI: Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) has completed more than 1,500 robotic surgeries since launching its robotic surgery programme in October 2023, marking a major milestone in advanced healthcare in Pakistan.
According to hospital officials, the procedures are estimated to be worth more than Rs600 million. The number of robotic surgeries is expected to reach between 1,800 and 2,000 by the end of this year as demand for the specialised procedures continues to grow.
Dr Saddam Saleh, Deputy Director and in-charge of robotic surgery, said the number of procedures is increasing daily. JPMC has also been recognised as a training centre for robotic surgery, strengthening its role in developing specialised medical expertise.
Robotic surgeon Dr Mansab Ali called for additional robotic systems to increase surgical capacity and reduce waiting times for patients.
The hospital administration said more robotic systems would be added in the future to increase the number of daily procedures and improve access to advanced surgical care.
