KARACHI: Several parts of Karachi may face disruptions in water supply after a power breakdown at the Dhabeji pumping station on Sunday morning, the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) said.
According to KWSC, electricity supply to several phases of the pumping station was suspended around 6am due to a cable fault in K-Electric’s system. The outage affected the third and fourth phases as well as the K-3 Pump House.
The disruption has left 10 of Dhabeji’s 21 pumps non-functional, potentially affecting water supplies to parts of the city. KWSC officials are coordinating with K-Electric to restore power and said the affected pumps would be brought back online immediately once electricity is restored.
The water utility has urged citizens to avoid unnecessary water consumption while the issue is being resolved. Dhabeji is Karachi’s primary water intake point, making uninterrupted electricity essential for maintaining the city’s water supply.
