LAHORE: Chinese technology giant Alibaba Cloud has expressed interest in Punjab’s growing information technology sector and explored potential cooperation in artificial intelligence and digital public services.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz discussed possible areas of collaboration during a meeting with a high-level Alibaba Cloud delegation during her visit to China. The delegation reportedly appreciated Punjab’s AI-based governance initiatives and discussed the potential use of artificial intelligence in agriculture, healthcare, socio-economic programmes and climate forecasting.
The meeting also explored the possibility of a strategic partnership to expand the use of AI in public services. Maryam Nawaz said Punjab was integrating artificial intelligence into its governance system and welcomed Chinese cooperation in AI and other information technology sectors.
The discussions also covered technology opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises and overseas Pakistanis. The development could open new avenues for cooperation between Punjab and Alibaba Cloud as the province seeks to expand its digital economy and technology ecosystem.
