Finance Committee Approves Prices of 52 Life-Saving Medicines

ISLAMABAD: A cabinet committee led by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has approved the prices of 52 newly registered life-saving medicines, including cancer drugs, insulin, vaccines, and other essential treatments. The recommendations will now be sent to the federal cabinet for final approval before the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) issues official price notifications. Officials say the move will improve the availability of critical medicines through licensed pharmacies and reduce patients’ reliance on costly imports and unregulated supplies. The government said the pricing process was transparent, evidence-based, and focused on ensuring affordable access to essential healthcare.
