By NewsPostPK | July 18, 2026

KARACHI: Renowned businessman and investor Arif Habib has said that Pakistan International Airlines Corporation Limited (PIACL) is working on a long-term revival strategy that includes expanding its fleet to 60 aircraft over the next 10 years.

Speaking about the national carrier’s future, Habib said efforts to turn around PIA are already underway, with the investor consortium focused on appointing a new senior management team to lead the airline’s restructuring.

He said the fleet expansion would be carried out in phases over the next decade, enabling the airline to gradually increase its domestic and international operations while improving efficiency and service quality.

According to Habib, strengthening the airline’s management and modernizing its fleet are key priorities for restoring PIA’s competitiveness and financial sustainability.

The announcement comes as Pakistan moves forward with plans to revive its national carrier and improve its commercial performance following years of financial challenges.

Industry observers say that expanding the fleet and introducing professional management could help PIA strengthen its market position and enhance connectivity for passengers.
