Pakistan Said India of Using Afghan Soil to Destabilize the Region at UN Security Council

United Nations: Pakistan said India of using its presence and activities in Afghanistan to undermine Pakistan’s security and regional stability, during a debate at the United Nations Security Council on Afghanistan.

Responding to statements made by Afghan and Indian representatives, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, said Pakistan’s military actions, including operations conducted in March, were aimed solely at terrorist groups operating from Afghan territory and their support infrastructure.

He stressed that the operations were not directed against the Afghan people and targeted facilities allegedly used by militants, including drone storage sites, technical support centers, and weapons depots involved in attacks against Pakistani civilians.

The Pakistani envoy said the operations were conducted with precision and professionalism, adding that no hospitals, rehabilitation centers, or civilian installations were targeted. He also noted that Pakistan’s Ministry of Information had released footage following the operations, which it said demonstrated the nature of the targets and showed secondary explosions consistent with weapons storage facilities.

Ambassador Ahmad stated that most speakers at the Security Council session emphasized the need to ensure that Afghan territory is not used for terrorist activities against other countries. However, he said India was the only participant that did not express concern over the issue.

Criticizing the Indian representative’s remarks, the Pakistani envoy said that while India highlighted its development and humanitarian assistance projects in Afghanistan, the underlying objective was to target Pakistan diplomatically and politically.

He further alleged that India’s activities in Afghanistan are aimed at destabilizing Pakistan through support for militant groups operating in the region. Referring to the militant organizations Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), Ahmad claimed that the BLA operates as an Indian proxy and receives support to carry out attacks and fuel instability inside Pakistan.

The remarks come amid continued tensions over cross-border militancy and regional security concerns, which remain a key focus of discussions on Afghanistan at the United Nations.
