Security Forces Kill Five India-Sponsored Terrorists in KP IBOs: ISPR

Published:

Pakistan’s security forces killed five India-sponsored terrorists during two intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on May 7-8, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations.

In the first operation conducted in Tank, troops targeted a terrorist hideout after receiving intelligence reports about the presence of militants. Following an intense exchange of fire, four terrorists linked to the India-sponsored “Fitna-al-Khwarij” were killed, the military said.

A separate IBO in Dera Ismail Khan resulted in the killing of another terrorist during a firefight with security personnel.

According to the military’s media wing, weapons and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants, who were allegedly involved in multiple terrorist activities in the region.

Security forces also launched sanitisation operations in both areas to eliminate any remaining militants.

The military reiterated that Pakistan’s counterterrorism campaign under “Azm-e-Istehkam,” approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, would continue “at full pace” to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.

Pakistan has witnessed a rise in militant attacks, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since the return of the Afghan Taliban to power in Afghanistan in 2021. Islamabad has repeatedly called on Kabul to prevent militant groups from using Afghan soil to launch attacks inside Pakistan.
