MICHIGAN: A remarkable discovery in Michigan’s Cheboygan River has reunited a family with a message that spent nearly 95 years underwater.
In June 2021, diver Jennifer Dowker, owner of Nautical North Family Adventures, found a small glass bottle while cleaning the hull of her boat. Inside was a remarkably well-preserved handwritten note dated November 1926, asking whoever found it to return the paper to George Morrow of Cheboygan and mention where it had been discovered.
Hoping to locate the writer or his family, Jennifer shared the find on Facebook. The post quickly went viral, eventually reaching Michele Primeau, George Morrow’s daughter. She revealed that her father had thrown the bottle into the river when he was around 18 years old, never imagining it would survive for nearly a century.
Although George Morrow passed away in 1995, his message finally found its way back to his family decades later. The incredible story has touched people around the world, proving that even the smallest acts can leave a lasting legacy across generations.
