WASHINGTON: Public support for the ongoing U.S. war with Iran has fallen sharply, with only one in three Americans now backing the conflict, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Monday.
The survey found that many Americans remain uncertain about the purpose of the military campaign. Around 69% of respondents said the U.S. administration has not clearly explained its goals, including a significant number of Republican voters.
The poll also highlights growing public concern over rising military casualties, higher fuel prices, and the economic impact of the conflict. These issues are becoming increasingly important as the United States moves closer to the upcoming midterm elections.
Despite the decline in support for the war, President Donald Trump’s overall approval rating has remained relatively stable. However, analysts say public opinion on the conflict could play a key role in shaping the political landscape in the months ahead.
