KARACHI: Safety concerns have been raised after images circulating on social media appeared to show a damaged support pillar beneath Al Sajjad Restaurant at Karachi’s Do Darya. The waterfront restaurant, built on wooden piles extending over the Arabian Sea, has come under public scrutiny following the visible deterioration of one of its structural supports.
The viral images have prompted residents and social media users to urge the relevant authorities to carry out an immediate structural inspection to assess the condition of the building and ensure the safety of visitors and staff. Many have called for precautionary measures until the structure is thoroughly evaluated.
As of now, no government department or engineering authority has confirmed that the restaurant is structurally unsafe or at immediate risk of collapse. No official statement declaring the building dangerous has been issued.
