Islamabad Makes Registration Mandatory for Online Taxi and Bike Services
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad district administration has made registration mandatory for all online taxi and bike ride services operating in the capital.
Under the new policy, all drivers and vehicles working with ride-hailing platforms must register through a central digital system. The move aims to stop unregistered services and improve monitoring of transport operations.
Officials said the digital system will store complete records of drivers and vehicles. Islamabad Police will have full access to the app to verify drivers during routine checks or in case of complaints.
The Deputy Commissioner has directed authorities to coordinate with ride-hailing companies for smooth implementation. A crackdown against unregistered bike services has also been ordered.
Drivers will now be required to upload passenger details on the app before starting each trip. Carrying passengers without completing this step will not be allowed.
The administration said the new system will improve transparency, safety, and law enforcement in the city.
